چکیده
Abstract: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) usually presents with one of the classical symptoms hypercalcemia - painful bones, psychic moans, abdominal groans or renal stones. It is well known that many a times PHPT can be asymptomatic. Asymptomatic parathyroid disease identified on screening, when calcium found elevated bone density to unusually low. Impacted fish being reason for neck imaging and thereby leading diagnosis uncommon. Here we present unusual way in which left inferior adenoma was diagnosed 51 year old lady. Adenoma weight and biochemical parameters in primary hyperparathyroidism
Abstract Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism is autonomous production of parathyroid hormone. After removal of adenoma, one of the surgeons concern is postoperative hypocalcaemia. There is no precise method to determine if patients have hypocalcaemia postoperatively. The purpose of this study was to determine the relation between parathyroid adenoma weights, postoperative serum calcium and...
متن کاملRecurrent Primary Hyperparathyroidism after Autotransplantation of an Excised Parathyroid Adenoma
Introduction: We present a patient with recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism after reimplantation of a portion of an excised parathyroid adenoma. To our knowledge, there has been only one other case reported in the literature describing a re-implanted parathyroid adenoma as the culprit for recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism. Case Description: A 65-year-old female presented with recurrent pr...

An ectopically placed parathyroid adenoma in the anterior mediastinum is a rare cause of persistent or recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and is recognized as an important cause of failed primary neck exploration. We encountered 3 such cases amongst 70 surgically treated patients with PHPT (4.3%) over a 20-year period. In 2 cases, the offending adenoma could be removed at first explor...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcome of patients with parathyroid adenoma. METHODS We diagnosed and operated 54 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism in the Faculty of Medicine, Gazi University, Turkey from January 2000 to December 2004. In this study, 52 (96.2%) of these patients who had parathyroid adenoma were retrospectively evaluated. RESULTS There were 46...

The classic bone disease of primary hyperparathyroidism, osteitis fibrosa cystica, was characterized by subperiosteal bone resorption, osteopenia, and "brown tumors." Since the description of this skeletal disorder, the clinical profile of primary hyperparathyroidism has evolved markedly. The disease today is often characterized by no more than asymptomatic hypercalcemia, and severe bone diseas...
